Anne Bredon

Born Anne Loeb into a family of scientists, Bredon studied art at Humboldt State and took a master’s degree in mathematics at UC Berkeley, where she wrote this song in the late 1950s. She sang it on KPFA around 1960 and then largely left music behind; the song travelled without her. Only in the 1980s did she learn that Led Zeppelin had recorded it. She pursued the matter, and their version has since been credited to Bredon, Page and Plant, with a substantial back-payment of royalties.
