Atwood H. Townsend

Atwood H. Townsend (born 1897) was a professor of English at the New York University School of Engineering who in the 1930s chaired the National Council of Teachers of English committee on college reading. He is best remembered as editor of Good Reading, a popular mid-century guide to worthwhile books that ran through many Mentor paperback editions.
