Billy Wilder 1906–2002 · I. A. L. Diamond 1920–1988 · screenwriting partners
Billy Wilder (June 22, 1906 – March 27, 2002) was an Austrian-American director and screenwriter whose Hollywood career ran across five decades and brought him seven Academy Awards from twenty-one nominations. I. A. L. Diamond (June 27, 1920 – April 21, 1988) was a Romanian-American screenwriter best known for his collaborations with Wilder ↗, of which Some Like It Hot was the first great success. The two shared the screenplay credit and shared the Academy Award nomination for it, which is why this page credits a partnership rather than a name.
