Credited co-writers · a 1973 sketch finished decades later
Dylan recorded an unfinished, untitled fragment during the 1973 Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid sessions; bootleg collectors later filed it as “Rock Me, Mama.” Old Crow’s Critter Fuqua picked up a bootleg of those sessions in London as a teenager and passed it to Ketch Secor, who built full verses around the chorus. The two are credited as co-writers on a fifty-fifty split, and Old Crow have said they share the royalties evenly with Dylan.
