Boudleaux Bryant wrote “Love Hurts” alone; Acuff-Rose Publications registered it on 30 August 1960. With his wife Felice he formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in American music, credited with some 6,000 compositions and responsible for much of the Everly Brothers’ catalogue, including “Bye Bye Love,” “Wake Up Little Susie” and “All I Have to Do Is Dream,” as well as “Rocky Top.” The Bryants were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1991.
