Chuck Palahniuk

Born 1962 · American novelist and essayist

Chuck Palahniuk, born in Pasco, Washington in 1962, is an American novelist known for spare, transgressive fiction with a taste for the grotesque. His debut Fight Club (1996) became a cultural landmark after its 1999 film adaptation, followed by Invisible Monsters (1999) and Choke (2001). Diary (2003) is a horror-tinged novel about a painter consumed by the island community that needs her work — the setting in which the sentence now credited to Warhol was actually written.
