Claude François

Born in Ismailia, Egypt, in 1939 and raised into French pop stardom, Claude François was one of France’s biggest sellers of the 1960s and 70s — a relentless showman who ran his own label, Flèche, and his own magazine. He cut “Comme d’habitude” in September 1967, sharing the lyric credit with Gilles Thibaut and the music credit with Jacques Revaux. He died in Paris in 1978, at 39, accidentally electrocuted in his bathroom.
