Cornelia Funke (born 1958) is a German author of children’s and young-adult fantasy, best known for the Inkheart (Tintenwelt) trilogy — Inkheart, Inkspell, and Inkdeath — whose central conceit is that words read aloud can literally reshape the world. Fittingly, the disputed line first surfaces inside that trilogy as a chapter epigraph she credits to an invented Nietzsche title, a flourish that later escaped the book and circulated online as a genuine Nietzsche quotation.
