Dan Sullivan

Dan Sullivan was an American theater critic. He wrote for the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, the Minneapolis Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He became the Los Angeles Times’ chief theater critic in 1969 and held that post for 22 years. He also directed the Eugene O’Neill National Critics Institute and co-founded the American Theater Critics Association. In a 1976 review of a masked-theater troupe, he wrote the earliest close match to this saying that Quote Investigator ↗ has found.
