Elizabeth Rundle Charles was an English writer, born in Tavistock, Devon. She died in Hampstead, London. Her best-known book, Chronicles of the Schönberg-Cotta Family, is a novel of the German Reformation told through invented family diaries, with Martin Luther as a historical figure in its background. It was widely translated, and its sayings are often credited to Luther himself.
