George Glass was an American film publicist and producer who became one of the most quotable operators in postwar Hollywood. He was head publicist and an associate producer at Stanley Kramer’s independent company, where his campaigns for Champion and Home of the Brave helped make its reputation, and he later joined Marlon Brando’s Pennebaker Productions as an executive producer on films including One-Eyed Jacks and Paris Blues. That proximity is the whole story of this quote: the press agent supplied the wisecrack, and the movie star supplied the megaphone.
