Harry M. Woods ↗ was a Tin Pan Alley composer whose catalogue includes “When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin’ Along” and “Side by Side”; he was born with a deformed left hand and was pushed toward the piano by his mother, a concert singer. Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly ↗ were English songwriters and publishers who had worked together since about 1925 and founded the firm Campbell Connelly in 1929 — the same partnership behind “Show Me the Way to Go Home” and “Goodnight Sweetheart”. Their company published this song on 4 November 1932.
