James Joyce

1882–1941 · Irish novelist & poet

James Joyce was an Irish modernist writer whose novel Ulysses (1922) redefined the possibilities of the English novel through stream-of-consciousness narration and dense literary allusion. He also wrote Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and Finnegans Wake, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century.
