Jim Wohlford

James Eugene Wohlford was born 28 February 1951 in Visalia, California, and debuted for the Kansas City Royals on 1 September 1972. Over fifteen seasons with the Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants and Montreal Expos he played 1,220 games and batted .260, mostly as a reserve and defensive-replacement outfielder. He never made an All-Star team — and yet his Wikipedia entry leads on the fact that he “became notable” for a single sentence that the rest of the world has spent fifty years crediting to somebody else.
