John Lennon

John Lennon was a founding member of the Beatles and, after the band split, a solo artist and activist. His 1971 song “Imagine” became one of the most recognized peace anthems of the 20th century. He said in 1980 that much of its lyric and concept came from his wife, Yoko Ono, who was formally credited as co-writer in 2017.
