Leo Durocher

Leo Ernest Durocher — “Leo the Lip” — played shortstop for the Yankees, Reds, Cardinals and Dodgers before managing the Dodgers, Giants, Cubs and Astros to 2,008 wins over 24 seasons. He won a World Series as a player with the 1928 Yankees and 1934 Cardinals and another as manager of the 1954 Giants, and he ranks third all time in ejections. His combative contempt for losing was the whole brand, which is exactly why lines about losing gravitate to him — including several he never actually coined.
