1921–2010 · American management professor, Louisiana State University
Leon C. Megginson was an American professor of management and marketing who taught for decades at Louisiana State University. In a 1963 address later published as “Lessons from Europe for American Business,” he offered his own loose restatement of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species — arguing that the species that survives is the one best able to adapt to a changing environment. He never claimed to be quoting Darwin verbatim, but over the following decades his paraphrase was streamlined and re-pinned onto Darwin, and later onto other famous names.
