Mary Lou Kownacki was a Benedictine sister of Erie, Pennsylvania, a poet and lifelong peace activist who led Pax Christi USA and Benedictines for Peace. She was also a close collaborator and “muse” to Sister Joan Chittister. Her prayer-line about hearing another’s story became famous after Fred Rogers adopted and shared it.
