A busking string band that formed in 1998 and toured Canada on a self-made cassette before anyone was listening. In 2000 Doc Watson’s daughter heard them playing outside a drugstore in Boone, North Carolina and brought her father over — the endorsement that opened doors. Their Nettwerk debut O.C.M.S., produced by David Rawlings and cut at RCA Studio B in Nashville in 2003, carried the song that would define them.
