Oliver P. Smith

Oliver Prince Smith commanded the 1st Marine Division in the first year of the Korean War. That included the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, where his surrounded division fought its way out to the sea. He was a quiet, studious officer whose Marines called him “the Professor,” and he retired as a four-star general.
