Peter Lynch

Born 1944 · American investor, fund manager & author

Peter Lynch managed Fidelity’s Magellan Fund from 1977 to 1990, posting a 29.2% average annual return and growing the fund from about $18 million to $14 billion — the record that made him one of the most-quoted investors alive. In 1989 he distilled his method into One Up On Wall Street, written with John Rothchild, which argued that ordinary investors can beat professionals by noticing good companies before Wall Street does. The book sold more than a million copies, which is exactly why its best one-liners escaped into circulation and started getting pinned on more famous names.
