The Blues Brothers

John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd · film soundtrack released 20 June 1980 on Atlantic

Belushi and Aykroyd built the Blues Brothers out of genuine affection for exactly this catalogue, and they hired the players to prove it. Their version of the song appears in the 1980 film and on the Atlantic soundtrack album, which reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum in the United States. There is nothing dishonest about the record — it is a loving, deliberate revival, on the same label that put out Burke's single. The only error is chronological: audiences met the song here first and assumed it started here.
