Who really said it
A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words
There is no source. It is not in C.S. Lewis — not in The Four Loves, where he wrote at length about friendship, and not in his other books, letters or talks. Shania Twain is credited only because she has repeated it. The oldest credit with anything behind it is ‘Donna Roberts’, attached to a shorter wording in a 2007 book — and no one has ever established who she is.
