Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope
Confirmed in Helen Keller’s Optimism: An Essay (New York: Thomas Y. Crowell & Co., 1903), Part III, “The Practice of Optimism.” The line appears there word for word — though the widely circulated ending “…without hope and confidence” adds words Keller did not write; her sentence stops at “hope.”
