The line comes from a fake “screenshot” of an X post. The image carries the date 2/14/25, but its earliest known appearance is a February 15, 2025 upload to the satire subreddit r/ToiletPaperUSA. Lead Stories ↗ and PolitiFact ↗ both found that it never appeared on Musk’s account.
“This country's billionaires are tired of subsidizing everyone else's schools, parks, health care” Not Elon Musk — a fabricated X-post screenshot first posted to the satire subreddit r/ToiletPaperUSA on February 15, 2025 (Lead Stories; PolitiFact). · Verbatim: “Here's the hard truth: this country's billionaires are tired of subsidizing everyone else's schools, parks, health care, even food and entertainment. You want nature? Buy some land. Health care? Befriend a doctor. Entertainment? Roll around in the mud with your fellow pigs.”
⚠ The slide-ready mistake: crediting this to Elon Musk. Use the credit shown above instead.

Evoking the themes of justice and power. Theme: "This country's billionaires are tired of subsidizing everyone else's schools, parks, health care". Atmospheric and restrained, cinematic directional light, a muted period-appropriate palette, fine grain and texture. Compose with generous empty space for the quote and a small credit line. No lettering in the image itself.

Minimalist editorial slide for the quote "This country's billionaires are tired of subsidizing everyone else's schools, parks, health care". Clean background, a single muted accent color, generous negative space, subtle paper or linen texture, no literal illustration — let the words carry it. Reserve clear space for a serif quote and a small credit line. No lettering in the image itself.

The full text of the fake post, as transcribed by Lead Stories ↗. The headline quote on this page stops at “health care”; the image itself continues to the “fellow pigs” line.
Feb. 15, 2025 — The “screenshot,” dated 2/14/25, is uploaded to a subreddit whose rules say posts are “ironic/parodic/satirical” unless flaired as real. Lead Stories calls this the earliest mention it could find (Lead Stories ↗).
Feb. 16, 2025 — The image is shared on X by @DonkeyBetzKing. Check Your Fact traces it to r/ToiletPaperUSA (Check Your Fact ↗).
Feb. 22, 2025 — A cropped version of the image is posted on Threads, the earliest dated Threads copy in the fact-checks (Lead Stories ↗). Check Your Fact also reports it circulating on Threads but gives no date.
Feb. 24, 2025 — Lead Stories checks Musk’s live and archived posts from February 14 and finds no match. It also points out that the time has no AM/PM and the date uses numbers, which real X posts don’t do (Lead Stories ↗).
Mar. 4, 2025 — PolitiFact rates the claim False. It notes that the quote “does not appear on Musk’s X account” and that Meta had flagged copies on Threads and Instagram (PolitiFact ↗).

Fact-check
Why it gets pinned on Musk
The line has been passed around as a screenshot of an Elon Musk post on X. Fact-checkers found that the image was made up and began as satire.
There is no such post on @elonmusk. Lead Stories searched X, Google, Google News and archived copies of his account. It found nothing and said formatting discrepancies suggested the screenshot was “digitally manufactured” (Lead Stories ↗). Check Your Fact and PolitiFact both rated the claim False (Check Your Fact ↗; PolitiFact ↗).
✓The words come from a satire image first posted on February 15, 2025, to r/ToiletPaperUSA, a subreddit whose rules say all posts “should be considered ironic/parodic/satirical” unless they are flaired as real (Lead Stories ↗).
Context
Why people believed it
The joke works because it sounds close to things Musk has really said. PolitiFact notes that he has publicly called for removing subsidies, including in a July 2024 post, but says he did not write this one (PolitiFact ↗).
The headline quote on this page stops at “health care.” The image itself goes on to an obviously absurd ending: “Roll around in the mud with your fellow pigs.” Read in full, the post gives away the parody far more clearly than its first sentence does.
