The joke first appears in To You I Tell It (1929), a self-published book by the columnist and boxing publicist Bill Miller, among a set of deliberately absurd mock endorsements. Quote Investigator ↗ concludes that Miller wrote all of those blurbs himself and coined this one; Dorothy Parker’s name was attached to it decades later, in 1962, with no citation attached.
