This one is real. The exact wording sits at page 89 of The Story of Walt Disney (Henry Holt and Company, New York, 1957) — the memoir Disney’s daughter Diane Disney Miller told to Saturday Evening Post writer Pete Martin, who wrote it up — where it is set inside quotation marks as Disney’s own words. A close variant reading “a kick in the pants” had already run in the Post on 1 December 1956, and Quote Investigator suspects Disney approved both formulations for publication.
