The only evidence is second-hand: his associate Jolande Jacobi told biographer Vincent Brome in 1963 that Jung had said “Show me a sane person and I’ll cure him for you,” and Brome printed the familiar wording in The Guardian on 19 July 1975 — after Jung’s death. The form Jacobi gave Brome differs: “Show me a sane person and I’ll cure him for you.” Both wordings are documented by Quote Investigator ↗; neither has been found in anything Jung himself wrote.
1957 — the Freudian ancestor. Robin A. Hodgkin’s Education and Change quotes a female pupil of Freud, unnamed: “Show me a normal man and I will cure him,” per Quote Investigator ↗.
1963 — the recollection. Biographer Vincent Brome interviewed Jung’s long-time associate Jolande Jacobi ↗, who attributed to Jung the words “Show me a sane person and I’ll cure him for you.”
1975 — into print. Quote Investigator’s earliest located instance of the familiar wording is Brome’s article “The man who woke the world” in The Guardian, 19 July 1975, page 9; that March the British Medical Journal had run a Freud-credited variant.
1978 onward — canonised. Brome’s biography Jung (Atheneum, 1978 ↗) carries the quote at page 200 with the Jacobi footnote; Robert Byrne’s 1984 quotation compilation then fixed it to “C. G. Jung” for the aggregator era.
Jung died in 1961, but this line is not tied to any work he published. The documents that actually carry it are modern: Vincent Brome’s Guardian article of 19 July 1975 and his biography Jung (Atheneum, 1978), both first published well after 1930 and both still in copyright. Treat the wording as coming from an in-copyright modern source, not from a public-domain work of Jung’s.

Why this one sticks to Jung
The line works because it compresses something Jung genuinely argued. In a 1932 article on Freud’s historical setting he dismissed the idea of “a normal man” as a strange fiction — the notion that anyone is textbook-healthy was, to him, the illusion worth treating. The aphorism is the joke version of that position, and it is entirely in character.
But character is not evidence. What we actually have is a colleague’s memory of a witticism, recorded after the man was dead, and a family of near-identical sayings that were already circulating in Freudian circles before anyone put Jung’s name to them.
A remark that sounds exactly like Jung is still not a remark documented in Jung.
The older, Freud-shaped versions
Quote Investigator’s earliest relevant citation is not about Jung at all: Robin A. Hodgkin’s Education and Change (1957) credits “one of Freud’s pupils,” a female psychoanalyst who is never named, with “Show me a normal man and I will cure him.” Her identity remains unknown.
In March 1975 the British Medical Journal printed “Show me the normal man and I will cure him” and gave it to Freud, while conceding it may or may not be apocryphal. The Jung-credited wording surfaced in print four months later.
